STEM: Light and Shadows
The Infant Room investigated making shadows outdoors in our school playground with Ms. Mannix.
Working in pairs, the children stood in a sunny place in the school yard. They made observations of different shadows. One child draws around the shadow with chalk. They learnt that the source of light in this activity was the sun. They investigated how their shadows could be changed by moving their bodies in different ways. The pupils also learnt that the position of the sun in the sky at different times of the day determines the length and direction of the shadows.
It was a great outdoor STEM activity.
